A DISPERSAL order will be in place in Harlow from 6pm today, Friday, October 12, in response to a planned car cruise.

The dispersal order will run until 6am tomorrow following concerns there may be anti-social behaviour, including loud music, dangerous and erratic driving and drug activity.

The order was set up in response to an event due to take place at Oaks Retail Park, in Howard Way, and has been made under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

It gives our officers the power to order people causing anti-social behaviour to leave the area.

It is a criminal offence to breach a direction given under the order and in the worst cases this can result in a criminal conviction punishable by up to six months imprisonment or a fine of up to £5,000.

Inspector Tony Walker, of Harlow’s Community Policing Team, said: “The event has been advertised online and this order was put in place in response to concerns that there may be a large number of vehicles and anti-social behaviour in our community.

“We worked closely with Harlow Council to obtain the order and we will have a presence in the area to address any instances of anti-social behaviour.

“We would urge anyone with information about any anti-social behaviour or driving to call us on 101.”
