A WOMAN who failed to provide a sample after they stopped her in a car at a petrol station in Harlow has been banned from driving for four years.
Sophie Lock, 33, of no fixed address, appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, February 13, where she was banned from driving for failing to provide a specimen.
Her licence was endorsed with points after she admitted driving without a licence and insurance and she was ordered to complete 40 days rehabilitation activity requirement and an accredited programme.
She received no separate penalty for possession of amphetamine and she received 16 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, for possession of a Taser. Both the drugs and Taser will be destroyed.
A police spokesperson said: “In the early hours of Sunday, December 16, we were called about a possible drink driver on the forecourt a petrol station in Tilwicks Road.
A member of public called to say she saw the woman getting into a car after appearing to stumble as she filled her vehicle with fuel.
“We attended and found Lock in the driver seat. She had no insurance and an expired provisional licence. While searching her, we found a Taser disguised as a torch in her pocket.
“Lock was arrested and taken to custody, where she refused to provide a specimen for analysis”.
Investigating officer DC Jo Snell, of Harlow CID, said: “Lock was uncooperative throughout the entire incident.
“Lock got behind the wheel of a car without a licence or insurance. We also found a dangerous weapon in her pocket, which has been removed from our streets and will be destroyed.
“Lock’s refusal to assist our officers with their enquiries has resulted in a lengthy driving ban and programme activity.”
