A DISPERSAL order will be in place tomorrow, Saturday 20 July, following concerns about street racing and dangerous driving in Harlow.
The dispersal order will run from 6pm until 2am on Sunday 21 July at Oaks Retail Park off Edinburgh Way.
We will be implementing these powers after an unauthorised car meet was advertised on social media.
These events have previously attracted large numbers of people and vehicles, resulting in concerns around anti-social behaviour and dangerous driving.
The meet is at a popular destination with several restaurants and a cinema and the order will help protect people using those businesses.
Inspector Tony Walker, of Harlow’s Community Policing Team, said: “We have used dispersal orders to help manage numerous events at this location from the same group of people.
“They have been successful and we have only had a handful of reports of anti-social driving over the many that have been advertised there.
“Our dispersal order gives officers the power order people causing anti-social behaviour to leave the area and breaching any direction given under the order is a criminal offence.”
Anyone with information about anti-social driving should call Harlow police station on 101 or report information online by visiting www.essex.police.uk/do-it-online.
