Harlow man arrested as part of undercover operation in London

A HARLOW man has been arrested as part of an undercover operation in London.

The police arrested another man over a loaded gun at Hither Green station in Lewisham.

Undercover police seized the gun while searching a 24-year-old man suspected of attempting to avoid a screening arch at Hither Green station.

He was arrested for possession of a firearm – which was loaded – with intent and is currently in custody at a South East London Police Station.

The crucial find came as part of a stop and search operation South run by South East Basic Command Unit’s Safer Neighbourhood Team and British Transport Police.

People were also searched at New Cross Gate station as part of the Metropolitan Police’s Operation Hunda on November 24.

Officers taking part in the operation made a total of five arrests.

• A 33-year-old man from Lambeth was arrested and charged for railway trespass and possession of Class A and Class B drugs

• A 19-year-old man from Southwark was arrested for fraud by false representation and possession of a Class B drug

• A 19 Year old from Harlow was arrested for a racially aggravated public order offence against a police officer and fare evasion

• A 24-year-old male from Lewisham was arrested for possession of a firearm with intent and possession of a Class B drug

• A 30-year-old male from Orpington was arrested for possession of a kitchen knife, possession of a Class B Drug and for robbery while in custody
